While Olympic medallist Sindhu posted an emotional video on social media listing the ways in which her coach Pullela Gopichand makes things hard for her and the fact that she appreciates it, Kohli posted an image which had names of many legendary cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar and Sir Vivian Richards who inspired him.

Many sportspersons took to Twitter on Teachers’ Day and wished their coaches. However, two names that made the most noise on social media were of star shuttler PV Sindhu and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli. The social media users, however, were quick to identify that Anil Kumble’s name was missing from that list. Kumble was Virat Kohli’s captain at Royal Challengers Bangalore and was team India’s head coach in last one year. Kumble had resigned from his post after some differences with Virat Kohli. Both of them took to social media platforms to make their differences public and former team India director Ravi Shastri was appointed as the new head coach.

Even though Sindhu had named her video ‘I Hate My Teacher’ in collaboration with a popular energy drink brand, it was a standout tribute to her coach. This hatred is symbolic of the emotion that we all probably, at some time or the other have about our educators, but only to realise that it was for our good.

Here is how people reacted to Virat Kohli and PV Sindhu’s posts:

Virat Kohli is currently in Sri Lanka. The Indian cricket team whitewashed the hosts both in Tests as well as in ODIs and now will take on Sri Lanka in the one-off T20I on Wednesday evening. Kohli was in superb form in the ODI series and smashed back to back centuries in the last two matches. He would be hoping to keep that form going.
