The former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly turned 45 on Saturday and as expected wishes poured in for Prince of Kolkata from all parts of the country. Former cricketers including Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif led charge while Yuvraj Singh and Sports Minister Vijay Goel also had a special message for the southpaw. Having made his Test debut at Lord’s in 1996 against England, Sourav Ganguly went on to become one of the best batsmen of all time and led India to many glorious victories.
Wishing Ganguly on this day, his former opening partner Virender Sehwag said while movie on Sachin Tendulkar showed the rise of Sachin, a movie on Ganguly will show the rise of India. “Movie on Sachin Tendulkar showed the rise of Sachin. Movie on Saurav Ganguly will show rise and rise of India. #HappyBirthdayDada,” Sehwag posted on micro-blogging site Twitter on Saturday.

Sourav Ganguly took charge of the Indian cricket team when it was going through a tough time after the match-fixing scandal. Under him, the team entered the final of the Knockout tournament in 2000 and also ended up as the runner-up in the 2003 ODI World Cup. In 2002 Ganguly led his side to a Champions Trophy win.
