It has been an historic day for Indian sports particulary cricket as Team India crossed it’s previous highest runs scored in a single innings. India’s previous test total of 726 runs was overtaken by a massive score of 759 with Karun Nair unbeaten at an individual score of 303 in 381 deliveries.

But who was Karun Nair exactly is the question being asked by the audience. Karun used to be a middle order batsman for the state of Karnataka who was called in as a substitute for Shikhar Dhawan during team India’s last test match against New Zealand in Indore during October 8.

Dhawan who was suffering a thumb injury has still not yet been able to recover fully and hit the fields, which inadvertantly made way for Karun Nair. Karnataka won the Ranji Trophy in which Nair had a driving role to play where he scored three consecutive centuries in their final league game. In total Karun scored 709 runs in all the 10 matches combined.

It is indeed a proud moment for Indian cricket when on Monday Karun scored an unbeaten 303 runs in 381 balls thereby making him the only second batsman after Virender Sehwag to score a triple ton.

Praises and blessings have started pouring in from all corners including Prime Minister Narendra Modi who were among the very first to react.

Virender Sehwag wished the new comer on his feat in his own unique style an humour.

Karun’s triple ton consisted of 32 boundaries and four over boundaries.
