FIFA president Sepp Blatter on Tuesday said he would quit as the head of the football governing body.

Blatter has called an extraordinary FIFA congress “as soon as possible” to elect a new president, the BBC reported.

Earlier on Friday, the 79-year-old was re-elected for a fifth consecutive term by FIFA congress in Zurich.
