Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that that he missed playing alongside his former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, adding that he hopes they will play together again one day.

Earlier, Ronaldo, who spent six seasons with United before his switch to Real Madrid, has been linked with an emotional return to Old Trafford throughout the summer.

Ronaldo further said that Rooney’s mentality and strength makes him powerful, adding that he is a fantastic player for the team,the Daily Express reported.

The 30-year old also revealed that Rooney helped him a lot, when the latter joined United, saying that everyone loves him in England.

The duo went on to win three Premier League titles, the Champions League and one FA Cup together, before Ronaldo joined Real in 2009.

Ronaldo had previously scored hat tricks for Real Madrid against Espanyol and Getafe in the last two games of the La Liga.
