As soon as the Rio Olympics Badminton final match ended with Spain’s Carolina Marin winning Gold and PV Sindhu bagging Silver for India, the politicians made a beeline on twitter to greet the ace-shuttler for her accomplishment. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Pranab Mukherjee to union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, top politicians congratulated her for the historic victory. PV Sindhu lost to Carolina Marin 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 in a hard fought match. PV Sindhu is ranked 10th while Carolina Marin in ranked 1 in the world. “Congrats for the Silver @Pvsindhu1. Very well fought. Your accomplishment at #Rio2016 is historic & will be remembered for years,” tweeted PM Modi.

President Pranab Mukherjee said that whole India is rejoicing with Sindhu and her family. “Great game played with grit ; Hearty congrats #PVSindhu on creating history by winning for India Olympic Silver medal,” tweeted Mukherjee. Union sports minister Vijay Goel also congratulated Sindhu for her success. “#PVSindhu you are an inspiration to all young Indian athletes who are hesitant to take up Sports as a profession,” tweeted Goel. In another tweet, Goel said, “Well played.@Pvsindhu1 .You have displayed tremendous grit to win #IND #Silver. You have not lost, you have won a Million Hearts #proud.”
