Salman ‘generous’ Khan to present Rs 1,01,000 to each Indian Rio athlete

With the mega event now drawing towards its end, India has nothing much to look forward to, besides a set of controversies and a list of dismal performances.

When Salman Khan was selected as the goodwill ambassador for the Rio 2016 Olympics in April, the Sports Federation was criticized back and forth, calling Salman incompetent to represent something as prestigious as the Olympiads. With the mega event now drawing towards its end, India has nothing much to look forward to, besides a set of controversies and a list of dismal performances. While Women Wrestler Sakshi Malik managed to grab a bronze at the 58 kg freestyle wrestling on Day 27th, there is no other boastworthy win in India’s lap.

Indian sportspersons have been facing flak for their poor performance,being the Rio Ambassador, Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan has now come forward to show some support and motivation to the athletes. Salman has promised to reward each participating athlete with a prize of Rs 1,01,000 each. Salman tweeted about the same further showing motivation to encourage sports in India.

Salman said, ‘The government is very supportive of sports . Each of us can also do our bit to encourage a sports nation.’ The ‘Sultan’ star also heaped praises on non-profit foundation as it helps budding sports in becoming ‘tomorrow’s champions’.

Salman’s gesture is sure to draw more support to improve the conditions of the athletes in India.
