The Haryana Government has announced an award sum of Rs 2.5 crore for Sakshi Malik
After female wrestler Sakshi Malik’s remarkable win at the Rio Olympics, Prime Minister took to twitter congratulating the Bronze medal winner and said,“admirable preparation by wrestler Sakshi Malik for the Rio Olympics. My best wishes are with her.”
He also said that Sakshi Malik will inspire several sportspersons in the years to come. Sakshi Mali claimed India’s first medal with a Bronze finish at the 58 kg wrestling bout at the Olympics. The Haryana Government has announced an award sum of Rs 2.5 crore for Sakshi Malik.
PM Narendra Modi Tweeted out saying, “On this very auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan, Sakshi Malik, a daughter of India, wins a Bronze & makes all of us very proud.”

Sakshi Malik had said that this medal is the result of 12 years of persistent hardwork. The 23-year-old lady from Haryana also made history as she became the first woman wrestler from India to bag a medal in Olympics. However, this medal adds to the four medals won by Indian wrestlers before including Sushil Kumar who bagged the silver medal in London 2012 Olympics.

After ending India’s wait for a medal, Sakshi said, “I never gave up till last, I knew I would win if I lasted till six minutes. In last round, I had to give my maximum, I had the self-belief.” Congratulating the country, she added, “It was an agonising two-three hours wait for me… I could live up to their reputation.”
