Rio Olympics 2016: India’s lone individual gold medallist Abhinav Bindra has brought new hope for the Indian contingent,as he qualified for the finals in the 10m Air Rifle men’s championships at the Rio Olympics 2016. After a disapponting campaign for Indian shooters in Rio Olympics 2016, Bindra’s qualification has brought some optimism and glory. Gagan Narang who was also participating in the same field has crashed out of the tournament. The search for a medal continues, as earlier Indian shooters Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu had also failed to win a medal for India. It remains to be seen if veteran Abhinav Bindra bring that glory to India on Monday.
In the qualifiers Abhinav Bindra finished seventh in the final standings, scoring a 625.7 while Gagan Narang finished 23rd before crashing out. Niccolo Campriani of Italy finished first, scoring 630.2 points. The finals will be held at 8.30 pm (IST) on Monday.
Today 14 gold medals are to be won across eight sports like artistic gymnastics, fencing, diving, rugby, judo, wightlifting, swimming and shooting.
