Dipa’s stunning performance led her to achieve much appreciated ‘Produnova’ vault cleanly to secure 14.850 points after two attempts. After two attempts Dipa finally dropped to 8th by Canadian Shallon Olsen’s 14.950 points, rejigged the overall standings. Finally, the Indian gymnast secured her place in the finals scheduled for August 14, for the top 8 to compete for medal round.
Dipa’s score card clearly shown the difficulty level of the task, as she secured 7.000 and 8.1 on difficulty and execution in her first attempt. Second level cut down her score to 6.000 points.
She landed low on her Produnova vault in the first attempt, while her second vault was a ‘Tsuk double full twist’ with the step to the side.
Simone Biles, the three-time all-round champion secured her first place in the chart with an outstanding performance score of 16.050. She scored 9.7000 on execution in her both attempts.
Dipa, the first Indian woman gymnast to win the Commonwealth Games medal, unexpectedly scored low on difficulty but decent on execution, she secured 11.666 on the uneven bars and 12.866 on the balance beam. Dipa also faced penalties of 0.3000 with led her fall to 12.033.
Never the less, Dipa continued with her great efforts and become the eighth gymnast with highest individual score in each apparatus move.
