Sakshi Malik’s historic win was not only appreciated by prominent sports personalities, but Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulating her, extended his greetings to Bronze medallist’s family in Rohtak by calling up her father, Sukhbir Malik. In a video, Sakshi’s father is seen thanking the CM for his wishes and congratulating him. He said, “This is the girl’s first medal for Haryana.” He also said that the village panchayat will visit him soon.
After the 23-year-old wrestler from Haryana took India’s name to the medal tally in the Olympics by winning a bronze in the 58kg women’s wrestling bout. She created history as she became the first women wrestler to win a medal at the prestigious Olympics.

The Haryana Government has announced an award sum of Rs 2.5 crore along with a government job for the talented wrestler. CM Khattar also wished her on Twitter and said, “Heartiest congratulations to Haryana’s wrestler Sakshi Malik for winning India’s first medal at #RioOlympics! The nation is proud of you!”
He also said that it is a matter of happiness that India’s daughter Sakshi Malik has won a medal for the country on Raksha Bandhan. Haryana Minister Manish Grover also met the Sakshi’s family at Rohtak congratulating them for her historic win at the Rio Olympics 2016.
Sakshi’s brother Sachin Malik also said that there is no better gift than this (Rio win) that a sister can give to her brother.
