English winger Raheem Sterling has said that he is glad to have completed his prolonged 49 million pounds deal move from Liverpool to Manchester City, adding that he is ready to challenge for major honours.
The winger, who became England’s most expensive footballer ever, said that his move to the Etihad Stadium would help him to improve as a player, the BBC reported.
The 20-year old insisted that the thing that excited him the most was the world-class squad they have at City and to be part of a team that is capable of winning silverware.
Sterling will move to City on a 200,000 pounds-a-week contract, earning him a further 10.4 million pounds salary per annum.
Earlier, Sterling, who had a contract with Liverpool till 2017, had stirred up controversy by turning down a new 100,000 pound-a-week contract at Anfield. The issue threatened to tunr ugly when his agent Aidy Ward had allegedly said that the player would not sign a new deal even if he was offered 900,000 pounds a week.
