Third seed Rafael Nadal defeated local boy Di Wu in straight sets to reach the second round of the China Open on Tuesday.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win over his Chinese opponent Wu in the opening round that lasted one hour and 26 minutes.
Nadal, who has had a disappointing season so far, is looking to bounce back from his latest Grand Slam disappointment and take a step toward confirming his place at November’s ATP World Tour Finals.
