England pace duo Chris Jordan and Liam Plunkett have been ruled out of remainder of the one-day international series against New Zealand through injury.

All-rounder Jordan is suffering from a side strain while Plunkett has a thigh strain.

Uncapped Somerset all-rounder Craig Overton has been added to the squad for Sunday’s third ODI in Southampton as cover for Jordan.

However, the decision as to who will replace Plunkett would be made today, the BBC reported.

Jordan hurt his side in the second ODI, conceding 97 runs for one wicket from nine overs, while Plunkett took 1-71, also from nine overs, before smashing 44 from 30 balls as England fell just short of the victory target.

The third match of the series would be played today at Southampton.
