Mahendra Singh Dhoni was staying in Dwarka's Welcome hotel complex and the entire Jharkhand team was evacuated safely.
Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was rescued from the hotel on Friday morning after a broke out. Dhoni who is leading Jharkhand in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy was staying in the hotel along with the team when the fire broke out. He was staying in Dwarka’s Welcome hotel complex and the entire team was evacuated safely.

Dhoni has played all the matches for Jharkhand in this year’s tournament scoring a century against Chattisgarh along with some other important contributions. His side was set to take on West Bengal in the semi-final of the tournament in a high-profile encounter at the Palam Cricket Stadium. However, the match will not be televised live as Model Sports Complex in Palam does not have broadcast facilities.

Bengal went into the competition with a younger team but will have the services of seasoned campaigners like Manoj Tiwary, Ashoke Dinda and Pragyan Ojha, who have all had IPL experience but other players like Kanishk Seth, Sayan Ghosh and Amir Gani have not played against Dhoni yet. “This is a young Bengal team and they have learnt how to play according to the situation. MS Dhoni is a legend but, on the field, one can’t get intimidated by names,” said Manoj Tiwari before the game.
