Score Hockey India League, Dabang Mumbai vs Kalinga Lancers Final, match update: The Kalinga Lancers clinched their maiden HIL title after defeating the Dabang Mumbai 4-1 at the final at Chandigarh.

Score Hockey India League, Dabang Mumbai vs Kalinga Lancers Final, match update: After two months of exciting action and on-field drama, the 5th edition of Hockey India League has reached its climax as Kalinga Lancers clinched their maiden HIL title after defeating the Dabang Mumbai 4-1 at the final at Chandigarh. Both the teams had entered the final in a good form. Table toppers Dabang Mumbai, led by their skipper Florian Fuchs, rode on a 26th-minute field goal by Dutch import Robbert Kemperman to beat Delhi Waveriders 2-0 on Saturday in the semi-final. While in the other semi-final, Kalinga Lancers defeated Uttar Pradesh Wizards via a penalty shootout after both teams were locked 4-4 as the match went down to the wire. It was only in the sudden death that Lancers won 4-3. This was a historic final as neither of the sides had won the tournament before and HIL got new champion with the Lancers’ victory.

08:40 pm: Dabang Mumbai misses a major opportunity of a much-needed penalty corner as TV umpires direct a long corner instead.

08:35 pm: With a field goal, the Dabang Mumbai can turn the game in their favour, as the game reaches its final minutes.

08:28 pm: Third quarter ends! Just 15 mins left for the Dabang Mumbai to get back into clash against the Kalinga Lancers.

07:30 pm: The match take a quiet start with both teams fruitlessly charging into their opposition’s D-boxes; however both teams without facing any major challenges as yet.

07:10 pm: With minutes left for the match to start, both teams, Kalinga Lancers and the Dabang Mumbai come out on the pitch.

07:00 pm: Uttar Pradesh Wizards defeats the Delhi Waveriders 5-4 in the 3/4th playoff to clinch the 3rd position in the league.

06: 59 pm: Kalinga Lancers’ skipper Fuerste Moritz leads the goal scorer’s chart with 10 goals in the league, while his Dabang Mumbai counterpart, Fuchs Florian stays right behind him.

This will be Kalinga Lancers second consecutive final and they would be hoping for a better performance than last year. In the previous edition, Lancers were defeated by Punjab Warriors who have been knocked out in this season.

Mumbai topped the points table in the group round finishing with 35 points from their 10 matches while Lancers was at the 2nd spot earning 28 points in as many games. However, Lancers had a very bad defensive record as it conceded 40 goals but managed to score just 32 goals.
