FIFA Under 17 World Cup 2017 Highlights: India played the second match of the FIFA World Cup 2017  against Colombia at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. In the Zone A, India had a rough start as in their very first match at a FIFA event, they lost to USA 3-0. Although India gave the crowd a good show the visitors were just too strong. Dheeraj was good for India in goal but having no support from the defenders, the very last wall of defence that is the goalkeeper also fell in a heap in front of the formidable US team. Coach Luis Norton de Matos was not happy with the outcome of the opening game, and he would be hoping that his players put up a better show against the South American giants today. Meanwhile, Colombia also lost their first match against the two-time champions Ghana 1-0. Both teams are looking forward to turning the tables in their favour and avert a loss. With one more loss in the bag, India or Colombia might have to pack their bags. So, it is one of the most crucial matches of Zone A.

9:04 pm: Goal for Colombia- courtesy Penaloza. A deadly strike form the top of the box flys straight into the top corner past Dheeraj. Score 1-0.

8:56 pm: India looks like a more confident side not only in terms of play but also emotionally and mentally. One thing the lads in blue need to do is create goal scoring chances more often. Talking about the team from South America they have enjoyed their moments of the limelight too but everytime defied by the unbreakable last wall of defence-Dheeraj Singh. India has been a better side in the first half so far.

8:53 pm: India dominates the first half, Score 0-0.

8:45 pm: Another chance for India, Rahul hits the post! Colombia are finding it difficult to deal with India’s counters, Rahul gets the ball inside the box completely unmarked, takes the shot and hits the post on the near side

8:39 pm: Another good save by Dheeraj. Colombian midfielder Campaz strikes the ball hard from the top of the box, and Dheeraj sends the ball away from goal. Mark my words, this young Indian is going to have a great future.

8:35 pm: Interesting fact, Dheeraj likes to play badminton too.

8:33 pm: Campaz still continues to be the danger man for India, a good cross from the right flank, found his teammate, the ball is headed towards the goal but a great save by Dheeraj. The best save of the match so far.

8:30 pm: Boris has tested the Colombian defence so far, and has been lethal so far. Another counter by India is shut by Colombia.

8:25 pm: India seems to be in a different skin today. They are a much confident side and the hunger for the win can be seen in the players game. So far the Indian defence and midfield have done their job so far. But the strikers need to step up.

8:20 pm: Great kick by Dheeraj. The Indian goalkeeper is the most experienced player on the Blues side with 43 international caps to his credit.

8:18 pm: India has been impressive after initial falters. The gamble of resting Komal seems to be paying off well so far.

8:12 pm: A big miss by Abhijit. That was close. It was a good one-two-one show between the Abhijit and his teammate, that created a one-on-one opportunity. Abhijit tried to go for a smasher instead of placement and hit the ball directly on Colombian keepers.

8:10 pm: India needs to keep the ball more in possession in order to create chances. The Colombian goalkeeper K.Mier is yet to be tested.

8:06 pm: The defence has been rock solid so far despite the temperature outside the stadium being 37 ° C.  Well the temperature inside JLN will be no less than 100° C with keeping in mind today’s Do or Die clash.

8:04 pm: It is quite hot in Delhi with the temperature at 37.

8:00 pm: Colombia playing their traditional game of long passes whereas, for India, they still look have not settled so far in the game.

7:57 pm: And India kicks off the match. The referees are dress in pink which has made it quite a colourful scene down on the ground.

7:55 pm: Referee is Ricardo Montero from Costa Rica.

7:53 pm:  With the Indian National Anthem being played I feel chills running down my spine. Is it natural to have such a feeling?

7:43 pm: With the decision to bench Thattal and Suresh it seems coach Matos is going for a much direct approach. Thattal and Suresh were the link between defence and attack against the USA.

7:32 It is a very well said by Harsha Bhogle, these lads are on a journey that India has never been on before. These kids should look upon themselves as the pathbreakers. Quite Heart-touching isn’t it.

7:28 pm: The teams have started their warm up.

7:23 pm: Now you can get to know the history of Indian football through the FIFA Museum.

7:18 pm: Komal Thattal and Jitendra have been rested from today’s match.

7:03 pm: Meanwhile, in the USA vs Ghana match, the stars and stripes beat South African giants 1-0. Another sigh of relief for me and the millions. A chance for India to climb up to the second spot.

7:00 pm: Here is the starting line up for both India and Colombia.

India’s very own poster boy Komal Thattal is being tracked by EPL giants Manchester United whereas Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach are tracking the progress of Indian goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem. The tournament sure has brought with a plethora of surprises I must say.

Forwards: Aniket Anil Jhadav, Rahim Ali, Nongdamba Naorem, Rahul Kannoly Praveen

6:20 pm: Coach Matos in their first match tried to play defensively due to which the Indian midfield laid deep in the Blues half. Due to this, their were less attacking chances created for Aniket Anil Jhadav. But this time the Indian coach says that the lads are ready for the clash and will keep the pressure on the Colombian side throughout the 90 minutes.
