American golfer Jordan Spieth has been awarded the PGA of America Player of the Year award and the Vardon Trophy for the lowest scoring average.

Jordan Spieth has become the second youngest player after Tiger Woods to capture both awards in the same year,Sport24 reported.

The 22-year-old, who also won Masters and US Open this season, recaptured his world number one rank when he recently clinched the FedEX Cup title in the Tour Championship at Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Australian golfer Day was runner-up in player of the year award, followed by Bubba Watson, Zach Johnson and Fowler.

Spieth won the Vardon Trophy by posting an average of 68.911 through 91 complete rounds to surpass Day who post 69.161 through 75 rounds.

Spieth will now head into The President Cup tournament to be played at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in South Korea.
