American golfer Jordan Spieth has replaced Rory McIlroy as the world’s best golfer in the official rankings after finishing second at the US PGA Championship on Monday.
The 22-year-old Jordan Spieth, who won the Masters and US Open this year, finished three strokes behind champion Jason Day at Whistling Straits.
Jordan Spieth, who became the second youngest world number one after Tiger Woods, said that it was an unbelievable feeling to claim the top spot, the Daily Express reported.
The American also said that he knew Day had been going to win when he was walking towards the 16th hole. Spieth added that he was then focusing on finishing second and accomplishing a career goal.
Meanwhile, McIlroy fired a closing round of 69 to finish 17th at nine under par.
