IPL auction 2018 LIVE Streaming Online: The day 1 of IPL auction saw some interesting buys by the franchises. However, the bidding war was seen in the first half of the session when 16 marquee players were put under the hammer. The bidding started with Shikhar Dhawan and although Kings XI Punjab was able to win the battle, nonetheless Sunrisers Hyderabad used the Right-to-match (RTM) card to retain the Indian opener. But the man of the moment was England all-rounder Ben Stokes who was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 12.5 crore. Other players who were the hot targets for the franchises were KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Mitchell Starc, R Ashwin, Rashid Khan, Krunal Pandya and Jofra Archer. Interestingly, many uncapped Indian players also were able to draw attention. Amongst them, the top was current India U19 fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 3.2 crore. This year’s auction will feature 578 players in all with 361 of them being Indians. The council has also hiked the salary budget from previous Rs 66 crore to Rs 80 crore. Also, the council have introduced the Right-to-match (RTM) card, using which the franchises can get those players back who represented them previously.
