CSK team of IPL 2018

IPL auction 2018 player list: Chennai Super Kings are making their return and as always CSK looked interested in building their core first. The south Indian team had retained their star players MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. Interestingly, the team also made some big bidding for players like Kedar Jadhav Rs 7.8 crore. Moreover, CSK used their RTM to retain Faf du Plessis for Rs 1.6 crore, Dwayne Bravo for Rs 6.4 crore and Imran Tahir for Rs 1 crore. A right-to-match card gives the franchise the opportunity to buy back its player during the auction by matching the highest bid made for the player by another franchise once the bidding is over. The team also bought former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.

However, the team had let their local boy and one of India’s leading spinners R Ashwin let go to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 7.2 crore. CSK has been quite conservative in their spendings and rather than spending big money on players they have used the wallet to buy some quality players. However, the most expensive player of IPL 2018 emerged to be England all-rounder Ben Stokes for the second year in the row. Other players who were the hot favourites of this years auction were KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Mitchell Starc, Rashid Khan, Krunal Pandya.
