For the first time ever fans can select their favourite players whom they want to see in particular IPL teams. With IPL tournament just around the corner, this is the best gift the cricket fans could have expected. The star sports channel, which is the official broadcaster of VIVO IPL has launched an online voting contest Election se Selection, allowing fans to elect players whom they want to see in their favourite VIVO IPL teams. Fans can vote for their favourite players on vivoiplelection.hotstar.com, the last date for which is January 25. The Vivo IPL 2018, will be watched by nearly 700 million fans across the globe. The pool of players for fan elections will have both star players as well as uncapped players. There are as many as 30 Star players and 20 Uncapped players listed as options for fans to select.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who features in the TVC was quoted as saying, “It’s a unique opportunity that Star India is providing the fans to engage in VIVO IPL like never before. I would ask the fans to vote for their favourite players of their franchise whom they would want to see in the 2018 edition of the VIVO IPL.” The VIVO IPL 2018 will be broadcast by 10 channels, in 6 languages – Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali for the first-time-ever, on Hotstar and Star Sports network.
Earlier this month, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) retained Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained Indian skipper Virat Kohli during IPL retentions in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians retained skipper Rohit Sharma back in its team. While Rajasthan Royals picked Australia skipper Steve Smith, David Warner and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar were picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, one of the players who was surprisingly not picked was Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir. He is now on the auction list alongside West Indians Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. The tournament will begin from April 4 and the final will be held on May 27.
