As the IPL 2026 season enters its final league-stage leg, the IPL points table reflects one of the most competitive seasons in history. While Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lead the pack with 14 points, a cluster of teams including RR, GT, and RCB are fighting for the remaining three slots.
Tonight’s Pink Promise match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium was not just about regional pride; it was a high-stakes battle for Net Run Rate (NRR) superiority. It was won by Gujarat one sided and that resulted in a massive shift in the points table as the Gill-led Gujarat moved to the second spot and Rajasthan, for the first time in the 2026 edition, are outside the top four in the IPL 2026 points table.

Playoff scenarios: What’s at stake tonight?
For Rajasthan Royals: A win today would have pushed RR to 14 points and potentially 2nd place (depending on NRR margin), making them favorites to secure a top-two finish. A loss, however, leaves them vulnerable to the surging CSK and RCB.
For Gujarat Titans: Despite having the same number of wins as RR, GT’s negative NRR (-0.147), they had been kept at 5th. A dominant win today finally took them into the top four, displacing the Royals.
Historically, 16 points is the benchmark for qualification. Both RR and GT need two wins from their remaining four games to hit that mark.
All pink today for RR
Rajasthan will wear their special all-pink threads tonight, but they need to fix their home-turf record. After suffering a heavy defeat to Delhi Capitals in their last outing, Riyan Parag and his men are under pressure to defend their fortress against a GT side that has won three on the bounce.
