A total of 45 players, including Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Ravi Bishnoi, Venkatesh Iyer, Matheesha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga, have listed the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore for the 2026 IPL auction.
A notable absence from this list is Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell, who was bought last year by Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crore, marking his fourth IPL franchise. In an Instagram post Maxwell announced his absence from IPL 2026 auction. “After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me,” he wrote.
Adding to it he mentioned that, “The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever”.
Maxwell, 37, fractured a finger during the 2025 season and was replaced by fellow Aussie Mitchell Owen, who has now been retained by Punjab Kings.
All eyes at the IPL 2026 auction will be on Australian allrounder Cameron Green. He missed the 2025 mega-auction due to a back injury and this time he could command significant attention. Interest is expected from franchises with the deepest pockets, particularly Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 64.3 crore) and Chennai Super Kings (Rs 43.4 crore), both of which have a slot available for an overseas player. KKR may be the frontrunner for Green, especially following the recent IPL retirement of West Indies T20 star Andre Russell.
Indian players in the Rs 2 crore category
Two Indian players have listed the Rs 2 crore base price. Venkatesh Iyer, bought back by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2022 mega-auction for Rs 23.75 crore using the right-to-match option, is one. In his 62-match IPL career, Iyer has opened the batting 22 times and played at No. 3 on 15 occasions. Additionally, the left-hander has featured at both No. 4 and No. 5 seven times each, along with five appearances at No. 6 or lower.
The other is Ravi Bishnoi, who was retained by Lucknow Super Giants last year for Rs 11 crore but was released due to inconsistent performance over his four-year stint.
Bishnoi made his India debut in February 2022 against the West Indies, taking 2/17 in his first match and earning the Player of the Match award. The Rajasthan-born cricketer quickly filled the void left by Yuzvendra Chahal. After a series of underwhelming performances, Chahal played his final T20I in August 2023, and it appeared the management had quietly moved on. Bishnoi secured his spot alongside Kuldeep Yadav as India’s wrist-spin duo – and he has lived up to expectations.

Glenn Maxwell’s IPL journey
Maxwell was an important player for Royal Challengers Bangalore, but a poor season where he averaged under 10 runs per match led to his release. Punjab Kings picked him up in the 2025 mega auction, but he again failed to make a mark and the franchise chose not to retain him.
Maxwell did not register for the mini auction after being released by Punjab Kings. This means there is a high chance he will not feature in IPL 2026. Maxwell has had an exciting yet inconsistent IPL run, scoring 2,819 runs and taking 41 wickets in 141 matches between 2012 and 2025.
