Curtains have come down on a memorable Test match at Mohali and Team India, after beating England, is in the driver’s seat in the 5 match series with a lead of 2-0. Apart from losing the toss, almost everything else worked in favour of Team India as they focused on winning sessions before conquering the match.
After the match ended, Indian captain Virat Kohli took time, to share a few moments with the youngest-ever English opening batsman Haseeb Hameed who is a 19-yr old. The youngster was all ears and maintained a calm composure and listened patiently to the tips a relaxed Virat offered him. The duo discussed effective batting techniques.
The BCCI tweeted:
“Inspiring generation next. Young @HaseebHameed97 is all ears to #TeamIndia captain @imVkohli”
The teen sensation from Lancashire has impressed many critics with his batting and has already made two half-centuries in the ongoing series – 82 in Rajkot & 59* in the just concluded Mohali Test, where he batted at number 8. The family members of Hameed were also present to cheer for him at the PCA stadium in Mohali.
Captain Kohli lauded the patient knock that Hameed played today. He liked the way, the youngster shifted gears when he started running out of partners on the other hand. Virat Kohli, since his U-19 days (2008) has been an inspiration to millions of budding cricketers not only in India but across the world, and Haseeb Hameed is no exception to it.
