LIVE Cricket Score, India vs Sri Lanka ODI: That’s it! Sri Lanka win the match by 7 wickets. Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble would be very disappointed with this loss but it also reminds us how important is Ravichandran Ashwin for this Indian team. He is the most experienced bowler and leader of the bowling attack as well so should be in the playing XI. But, the Sri Lankan side also deserves a lot of credit for their effort. It was completely a team effort by them and they deserved to win this match. Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis were brilliant, Mathews was clinical and Gunaratne added that x-factor.

There were some positives for the Indian side as well. Shikhar Dhawan’s return to form was the biggest while MS Dhoni also found himself amongst runs. Kedar Jadhav’s finishing touches has provided India with another option in the lower order. What this match has done is that it has left the tournament wide open. Only England has qualified for the semi-finals so far. In this group, we’ll have two virtual quarter-finals of Sunday and Monday when India will play South Africa and Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka.

10:20 PM: BAD NEWS for Sri Lanka! Kusal Perera is retired hurt. He was really struggling with his fitness.

9:00 PM: In the air! And, Rohit Sharma almost pulled off a blinder there. Brilliant effort by him! By now, Kohli must be analysing his options. Jadeja has been expensive, Pandya is going for some runs too.

Kusal Mendis – 29 (45)

Danushka Gunathilaka – 46 (45)

8:26 PM: Ravindra Jadeja is into the attack. With one left-handed batsman at the wicket, this is going to be interesting.

8:22 PM: Gunathilaka finished the last over with a beautiful boundary. Hardik Pandya is into this third over. Sri Lanka moves to 81/1 after 16.2 overs.

8:19 PM: Both these batsmen are looking very solid at the crease. The fast bowlers have hardly troubled them and Kohli might have to turn towards Ravindra Jadeja very soon.

8:13 PM: Meanwhile, Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame today:

8:10 PM: A good start for Hardik Pandya. Just 3 runs from his first over. This is why he is such an asset for a side. Sri Lanka moves to 62/1 after 13 overs.

8:00 PM: FIFTY up for Sri Lanka in the 11th over. This is turning out to be a good partnership for them.

7:54 PM: FOUR! terrific shot by Gunathilaka! Almost hit his partner with that one. Umesh Yadav is proving slightly expensive here and might be replaced after this over.

7:19 PM: Sri Lanka – 2/0 (1 over)

Niroshan Dickwella – 2 (6)

Danushka Gunathilaka – 0 (0)

7:15 PM: Welcome back to the Oval. The players are out in the middle for Sri Lanka’s run-chase. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take the new ball for India.

6:50 PM: Superb finish to the innings by Kedar Jadhav. He remained not out on 25 runs from 13 balls and smashed 3 fours and a six. India finishes at 321/6. The onus is now on the bowlers to defend this total.

6:42 PM: OUT! Dhoni tries to clear the rope again but gives away an easy catch to Dinesh Chandimal this time. His knock of 63 comes to an end.

6:40 PM: A decent over from Lasith Malinga to finish off his spell. He gave away just 5 runs from the first ball of the over but Dhoni smashed four off the last ball to take nine runs from that one.

6:37 PM: Dhoni pushes and pushes hard for a couple of runs, brings up the 300 for India. Great stuff from the former Indian skipper.

6:32 PM: Half-century for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and a well-deserved one for the former Indian captain as well. This will allow him to bat more freely in the final 3 overs. Jadhav on the other end is looking good too.

6:25 PM: OUT! Hardik Pandya goes for 9 as well. He was trying to clear the off-side field but was caught at the boundary rope. Kedar Jadhav is the new batsman.

6:23 PM: SIX! Smoked by Hardik Pandya. He starts in style.

6:20 PM: OUT! Shikhar Dhawan departs for 125 runs. His brilliance comes to an end. Hardik Pandya is the new man in.

6:15 PM: Bowl him a Yorker and he might send you ten rows back in the stands:

6:12 PM: FOUR! Punched hard by MS Dhoni and when that happens, the fielder has absolutely no chance.

6:08 PM: 250 up for India in the 43rd itself. With 42 balls remaining, the batsmen would back themselves to score at least 80 more runs.

6:03 PM: FOUR! Back to back boundaries for MS Dhoni. He is dealing in boundaries at Oval. Moves on to 32 from 30 balls, 16 runs from that over.

6:00 PM: SIX! Huge from Shikhar Dhawan. That’s his first of the innings and Dhawan sent it rows back into the stands. He is getting a move on here.

5:57 PM: The partnership between MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan is now of 47 runs from 43 balls. They both can hit few big ones and that time might come soon.

5:55 PM: That’s the atmosphere in England right now:

5:51 PM: THAT’S IT! Century for Shikhar Dhawan, 10th of his ODI career and probably one of the best as well. He dominated the bowling from the very first ball and controlled the inning beautifully.

5:49 PM: FOUR! MS Dhoni joins the party. He was waiting for the short ball and pulled it over the square leg fielder for a boundary.

5:46 PM: FOUR! Dhawan moves on 97. Great stuff from the Indian opener. He is playing a stunning knock in tough conditions.

5:42 PM: Single from the last ball of the 38th over and 200 is up for India. 10 runs per over from here on and India will be well past 320.

5:37 PM: Shikhar Dhawan is into the 90s now. He is playing a superb knock here but needs to stay in there if India wants to score more than 300 runs.

5:31 PM: Good start for MS Dhoni. He has moved on to 7 runs from as many balls while Dhawan is batting at 87. India – 188/3 (35 overs).

5:22 PM: OUT! Bowled! Yuvraj Singh falls for just 7. He never looked comfortable at the wicket. MS Dhoni is the new batsman in.

5:15 PM: A comparatively slow start for Yuvraj Singh. He has faced 14 balls for his first six runs. But, the Sri Lankans would know what the southpaw can do once he gets his eye in.

5:10 PM: India – 170/2 (31 overs)

Yuvraj Singh – 3 (11)

Shikhar Dhawan – 80 (91)

5:00 PM: FOUR! Another good shot by Shikhar Dhawan. Follows it with another smashing stroke. He is looking set for a big one. India moves to 160 for 2 after 28 overs.

4:56 PM: FOUR! Two boundaries in this over for Shikhar Dhawan so he isn’t holding back. Nine runs from Malinga’s over, he is proving very expensive. India – 148/2 (27 overs).

4:52 PM: Yuvraj Singh is the new man in. He played a good knock in the previous game but this is a different game and totally different situation.

4:50 PM: OUT! Heartbreak! That’s the big wicket, Virat Kohli departs for a duck! Sri Lanka is delighted, India in some trouble.

4:43 PM: OUT! Gone, Rohit Sharma departs for 78. Lasith Malinga gets the big wicket. Sharma’s 79-ball knock included 6 sixes. But, sadly missed out on another century.

4:42 PM: FIFTY! for Shikhar Dhawan, brings it up with a boundary as well. What a tournament he is having!

4:38 PM: Rohit is outscoring Dhawan now who dominated the inning for the first half.

4:34 PM: FOUR! Smashed by Rohit Sharma through covers. He moves on to 70, Ind – 122/0. Follows it with a single, so good cricket by Rohit there.

4:32 PM: Lasith Malinga has been re-introduced into the attack. This is his fifth over, so clearly a desperate move by Sri Lanka to get some wickets.

4:29 PM: Dhawan and Rohit now have ten 100 plus opening stands to their name. Guess who tops the list? Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly with 21 hundred run opening stands between them.

4:26 PM: This is the second consecutive hundred run stand between these two and they are looking set for much more.

4:21 PM: Fifty for Rohit Sharma. He reaches there with a SIX! 100 up for India as well. Follows it with another huge hit over the boundary. Superb stuff!

4:18 PM: It’s all too easy for the Indian batsmen at the moment. They are just placing the ball in the gaps and picking up singles. The score is already into the 90s. Sri Lanka needs wickets and they need them fast.

4:13 PM: Thisara Perera will start after the drinks break. He has given away 4 runs from his first over so far.

4:08 PM: FOUR! Comes from Rohit Sharma’s bat and he is into the 40s. Lasith Malinga puts in a dive but fails to stop it.

4:03 PM: Can you beat the Indian fans?

Rohit Sharma – 31 (41)

3:52 PM: At the end of the 12th over, India is sitting comfortably at 59/0. We are yet to see any spinner into the attack.

3:47 PM: India is following the pattern:

3:45 PM: FIFTY! for India and that too without any loss. Both the openers are looking set for a big score and so is the team.

3:40 PM: A decent start for India. Both the openers have looked very good so far. The bowlers have produced any impact whatsoever.

3:35 PM: FOUR! Short and pulled away by Rohit Sharma. Brilliant shot! That ball was begging to be hit.

3:33 PM: India – 36/0 (8 overs)

Rohit Sharma – 10 (18)

Shikhar Dhawan – 26 (30)

3:31 PM: Nuwan Pradeep replaces Lakmal into the attack. He is been in good form lately and will hold the key for Lanka.

3:26 PM: No real swing for the bowlers so far. The ball is coming onto the bat nicely and the only way to stop runs is by bowling in right areas.

3:23 PM: FOUR! Back to back boundaries for Shikhar Dhawan. He is full of confidence. Moves to 19 in quick time.

3:19 PM: After 5 overs, India has managed just 17 runs. Only 7 runs have come in last 3 overs. Dhawan finished that last over with a four.

3:14 PM: The teams got a great reception from the fans earlier:

3:10 PM: A much better over from Lasith Malinga. He is getting his line right. Meanwhile, Andrew Flintoff is in the crowd, surely a legend.

3:05 PM: FOUR! Another boundary, this time from Shikhar Dhawan’s blade. Both the openers are looking in good touch.

3:02 PM: India – 4/0 (1 over)

Rohit Sharma – 4 (6)

Shikhar Dhawan – 0 (0)

2:58 PM: FOUR! Rohit Sharma gets India off the mark in style. A boundary off the first ball of the inning.

2:57 PM: So, we are live! And, it’s that partnership once again. Rohit Sharma will open the batting with Shikhar Dhawan. Lasith Malinga will start for Sri Lanka.

2:39 PM: Virat Kohli said that he would have batted first too but added that he isn’t too concerned with the toss as the pitch won’t change much.

2:35 PM: Here are the playing XIs:

Sri Lanka – Niroshan Dickwella(w), Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews(c), Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera, Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Pradeep

India – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni(w), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah

2:30 PM: Angelo Mathews wins toss, opts to bowl first. As expected, no changes for India.

2:15 PM: The pitch report is out. It’s a fresh wicket and has some grass on it which might assist the fast bowlers. There is some moisture in the wicket as well.

1:55 PM: Rain is once again likely to play a key role in the result of this match. So the team that will win the toss, may opt to field first.

1:38 PM: “At the moment, we are playing good cricket, but, that doesn’t mean we play with arrogance as a team.We respect every opposition the same way, and, we intend to play the same kind of cricket against everyone,” Kohli said ahead of the match.
