After having a fantastic year in the longer format of the game, where Virat Kohli’s team remained unbeaten winning 9 of their 12 matches, India will look to carry the same form into 2017 when they will face Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
The good news for Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli is that everybody is fit again so India can field their best side but this also means means that they have the problem of plenty. Kumble made it clear that Ajinkya Rahane’s return could lead to Nair’s exit from the team despite scoring a triple century in his previous match.
“It is fantastic for a young cricketer to come in and score a triple-hundred. But we all know what Ajinkya has done for this team. His performances have been phenomenal across conditions,” Kumble said. On the bowling front, India look a much better side than Bangladesh. Visitors are likely to have a tough time against Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who will be supported by Jayant Yadav as the third spinner.

On the other hand, Bangladesh’s chances depend heavily upon their star all-rounder Shakib al Hassan who would expect more support from his teammates: Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim. Bangladesh would miss their fast bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman who is still recovering from an injury.
The 19-year-old off-spinner, Mehedi Hasan who had an incredible start to his Test career last year picking up 7 wickets against England in the first innings itself can be a threat for the Indian batting. The former Bangladesh U-19 captain has picked 23 wickets in his 4 Test matches so far.
