England manager Roy Hodgson has said that skipper Wayne Rooney is not far enough from getting his 50th goal, adding that he will get that in one match or the other.

England manager Roy Hodgson has said that skipper Wayne Rooney is not far enough from getting his 50th goal, adding that he will get that in one match or the other.

Hodgson said that it would be great if Wayne Rooney could break his record against Switzerland on Tuesday.

Hodgson, who took Rooney off from the ground after he equalled the national record of 49 goals by Bobby Charlton, further added that he would not have done that if that was Rooney’s last chance, Sport24 reported.

Earlier, Rooney’s 49th goal in 13th minute helped England to become the first team to qualify for the 2016 Euro Championship after they defeated San Marino 6-0 in Serravalle on Saturday.

With the win, England have now won all of their seven games in Group E.
