In a Twitter India report, Virat’s tweet in support of Anushka Sharma after she was trolled (again) when India lost to West Indies in the semi-final of the ICC World T:20 in March this year, has been labelled as the ‘most influential tweet of 2016’ and has been rated as the Golden Tweet of the year.

Interestingly, the second tweet on the influential list is that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he announced the demonetisation move on the night of November 8. Also joint second was PM Modi’s tweet congratulating India’s women athletes PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar, who brought laurels to India at the Rio Olympics.

At number 3 in this list by Twitter India is once again Virat Kohli, who was the most mentioned player of the high-profile ICC World T:20 match, between India and Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Captain Kohli also stood sixth in this list of most influential moments. His instrumental role in taking India to the semi-final, where he single-handedly won the virtual quarter-final match against Australia, was the most tweeted moment of the ICC World T:20 event.
