Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir says that the chances of Yuvraj Singh coming back to the Indian One Day International (ODI) squad are minimal and that he likely won’t be able to make a comeback to the Indian cricket team. The former Team India cricketer says that the term ‘rest’ was not the best term to describe Yuvraj’s current situation. He added that it would be difficult for Yuvraj Singh to return the side. Gambhir said, ”I think the term rest is the not the right term as Yuvraj hasn’t been playing for a while, he must be wanting to play, according to Cricinfo.
Gambhir added that Yuvraj should be given the maximum chance to play cricket if you want to see him in the next World Cup. Gambhir told Cricinfo ”You can’t put him in a situation where he plays a series and then takes a rest after that. He must maintain his flow”. He went on to say that he thinks that it will be difficult for Yuvraj to make a comeback, according to a sportskeeda report.
Gambhir made the comment after the Indian squad for the tour of Sri Lanka was declared. The roster of the squad did not contain the name of Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik. The Chairman of the selection panel, MSK Prasad had then said that Yuvraj had been rested and not dropped from the team. Prasad had said that Yuvraj had been rested as per a new policy and went on to say that the doors were open for Yuvraj to play in the 2019 World Cup.
