The original trophy was unveiled at a ceremony in Delhi earlier today (January 10). The trophy’s unveiling was done by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in the presence of former Brazilian World Cup-winning player and FIFA legend Gilberto D’Silva.

At the unveiling ceremony, Mandaviya said the visit would inspire India’s youth to engage more deeply with football, adding that sports has become a national priority under Narendra Modi, supported by initiatives such as Khelo India and the Fit India Movement.

Following the unveiling of the trophy, the President of Coca-Cola India, Sanket Ray echoed Mandaviya’s sentiment and said sports have emerged as a very strong, powerful pillar of national building.

“The reason is closely aligned with Vikshit Bharat 2047, where young India are empowered to lead, compete and excel on the world stage. Coca-Cola’s association with the FIFA World Cup brings this national focus on sports and youth association to life,” he added.

The FIFA World Cup trophy was first brought to the country in 2011 ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with New Delhi as its opening stop, followed by Mumbai and Kolkata. The previous visit, also organised by Coca-Cola, was aimed at promoting football in emerging markets and tapping India’s large youth base.
