The Indian men’s hockey team produced a perfect blend of aggression and defense to claim a 2-0 win over France in their opening Test match of the two-match series at Le Touquet.

The tourists held a strong 2-0 lead by the end of second quarter, thanks to Chinglensana Singh and SV Sunil’s brilliant strikes.

Although France tried to stage a comeback in the last quarter, goalkeeper PR Sreejesh underpinned by able defenders fended off hosts’ counter-strikes and guarded the post brilliantly for India.

India will play their second and last match against France on August 5 at Wattigies Sports Centre.
