New farm-sector scheme gives thrust to 100 laggard districts
The government has taken steps to boost farming in under-performing districts, including providing quality seeds and promoting vegetables cultivation, fisheries, and bee-keeping under the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (DDKY). This has led to an increase in gram and mustard production in these districts. The DDKY, with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore, aims to improve agriculture.
