Food subsidy exceed BE by Rs 20,000 crore, to surpass Rs 2.47 lakh crore
The government's food subsidy expenses are projected to rise by Rs 20,000 crore due to higher costs of storing rice and wheat and an increase in minimum support price. The actual expenditure for the free ration scheme may surpass the budget estimate of Rs 2.27 lakh crore. The Food Corporation of India's grain stock is also expected to increase, resulting in a higher economic cost.
