RBI lifts rate caps on select NRI deposits
RBI has removed interest-rate caps on certain NRE and FCNR(B) deposits, enabling banks to offer higher rates on new deposits with maturities of three years or more. This will remain in effect until September 30 and is intended to attract foreign currency inflows and maintain external-sector stability. Smaller banks are expected to offer competitive rates to compete for NRI deposits.
