The day after the launch of Ringing Bells Freedom 251 smartphone priced at Rs 251, a massive traffic surge on Ringing Bells website freedom251.com caused it to crash as tens of thousands of people tried to log onto the site to buy, what has been tagged as the cheapest smartphone in India. According to the company, Freedom 251 offers 'best-in-class features'. But eager potential buyers were mostly disappointed as the Ringing Bells server was not able to deal with the skyrocketing traffic that lasted through the day. This forced the company later in the day to put up a message indicating their plight. Here it is: 'Dear friends, we are very grateful for your enormous response and your kind patronage and would submit that as of now we received approx. 6 Lacs hits per second as a result of your kind overwhelming response, servers are over loaded. We humbly submit that we are therefore taking a pause and upgrading the service and will revert within or before 24 hours.
