MS Dhoni The Untold Story biopic, which is based on the life of the iconic Indian cricketer, is just about a month from being released and the filmmakers are trying to drum up as much coverage as possible. And the latest attempt was by releasing the third poster in the series. The poster, which was released on Monday, sports this legend, 'The man you know... the journey you don't.' (Image Source: IE)
The third poster in the MS Dhoni The Untold Story series provides an insight into each and every aspect of the cricketer's life, including as an Indian Railways ticket-collector. Each avatar of MS Dhoni is clearly sketched out and presented in the poster and also pictured are his first girlfriend and the second one too, who finally became his wife Sakshi - played by actress Kiara Advani. While the dominant avatar is Dhoni all decked up in his blue ODI cricketing gear, helmet and all, for the rest, he is picturised during various stages of his life. (Image Source: Twitter)
So, we have Dhoni in his trade-mark long-haired look. and also the short-haired variety, either holding up trophies or swatting the ball away supremely in classic cricketing poses. However, there is something missing - his avatar as a glove-man. Are we forgetting something, or did Dhoni not start off as a wicket-keeper to begin with, albeit one who could bat a bit. The BCCI always picked him as a wicket-keeper. It was not like he was a Rahul Dravid type of batsman who was recruited into donning gloves as a stop-gap measure. Dhoni is a glove-man and will always be remembered as such, no matter what people say about his 'helicopter' or other shots that have won many matches and destroyed every bowler he has ever come across. For an Indian cricket fan, this omission of MS Dhoni as a wicket-keeper is hard to digest. One wonders whether it was deliberate or something that someone forgot. Certainly, being a wicket-keeper is not considered glamorous and hopefully whoever is calling the shots in the biopic did not paper it over because of this fact. Dhoni is a great wicket-keeper and has the statistics to prove it. It is just that his powerful batting puts everything else in the shade. Nevertheless, this is a blatant miss. Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays Dhoni's role was all excited today when the poster was released. This is what he posted on Twitter: Sushant S Rajput @itsSSR 'The 3rd official #MSDhoniPoster 38 Days to Go for #MSDhoniTheUntoldStory.' MS Dhoni The Untold Story has Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher playing MS Dhoni’s father, Rajesh Sharma is the coach, while actress Disha Patani is picturised as Dhoni’s former girlfriend. The movie is directed by Neeraj Pandey. The film itself releases on September 30th. (Image Source: Twitter)
