Happy Bhag Jayegi box office collections: This Friday release that stars Abhay Deol, Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, has had an extremely slow opening day by all standards. The film, which is all about a girl with a mind all her own who keeps getting into hilarious situations has not been well received even though it has got some good reviews and its ratings have been consistently around 3 stars or higher. In fact, stories based on runaway brides, in which a mix of India-Pakistan love-hate relationship is intermixed generally tend to do well, but 'Happy' failed to bother the B.O. much at all, collecting just Rs 2.32 crore. The movie is going to struggle just to try and break even, leave alone generate profit for anyone. But with a title like that, what were they (filmmakers) really thinking? Surely, they could have thought of a better, more dramatic, title. (Image Source: Bollywood Hungama)

Looks like the reviewers were not able to enthuse the viewers who are looking for potboilers and not girls who like to run away at the drop of a hat. While the cast is powerful enough in the form of just Abhey Deol and Diana Penty, the pre-release marketing effort has not been able to boost the perception factor in the movie-goers and enthuse them to move out of their homes to check out what this film is about. The other problem is timing. The timing is not at all perfect for the movie's release. While there is no new Friday release rival to vie for viewers' attention, there are two massive movies in theatres already in the form of Akshay Kumar's Rustom and Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro. They may both be week-old movies, but they still pose too much of a challenge for a movie like Happy Bhag Jayegi to circumvent. In fact, it would have been tough to deal with just one of them for anyone, battling against both at the same time is impossible. (Image Source: Bollywood Hungama)

Abhay Deol starts with John Abraham and the Garnier facewash ads and goes up taking on celebrities like, Ileana D'Souza, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, Siddhart Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor and even Shahrukh Khan. (Bollywood Hungama)

And lastly, Happy Bhag Jayegi is having to cope with a couple of other sporting extraveganzas to contend with. While these may be restricted to the small screen, they nevertheless are drawing huge crowds. We are talking about the Olympics and the other is the India-West Indies cricket series. Too many troubles for the film, and they will ensure Happy Bhag Jayegi right out of theatres too. (Image Source: Bollywood Hungama)
