With Sultan box office collections, Salman Khan has created one of the highest grossing films to ever hit the Indian cinemas. Considering that his fight is with the likes of Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, the competition is understandably fierce and therefore, the achievement grander. However, increasingly, as can be seen from his collections trends and history, Salman is finding he is having to battle his own best movies to reach the top of the charts, rather than those of rivals, barring one, which continues to hold the No. 1 position in India. Aamir would surely be looking to get back that No. 2 spot if not go one better. But is he enabled enough? (Bollywood Hungama)

For instance, It was clear right from Sultan release day it will beat Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3. While in between it had a scare where it seemed Sultan may not be able to do so, yet over the last weekend, Salman Khan power boosted it ahead of its rival movie for the No . 3 position. Now, in the All Time Highest Grossers list, at Rs 284 crore, Dhoom 3 has been outmuscled to the 4th spot and at Rs 289.05 crore, Salman Khan has taken over the 3rd with Sultan. (Bollywood Hungama)

At No. 2 in the all-time best list is of course Salman Khan's other super-duper hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film appealed to a cross section of the market across countries even and it created history. The critics were not all positive about the movie, but the masses voted with their hearts and trooped by the hundreds of thousands over the weeks into the cinemas to watch the movie. Bajrangi Bhaijaan managed to keep its collections in double digits for an amazing 10 days with the highest being Rs 38.75 crore. The final numbers it generated in India were Rs 320.34 crore to grab the No. 2 position. As far as its worldwide collections are concerned, the movie managed to earn Rs 486.95 crore. Good as those performances by Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan are concerned, yet he did not manage to dislodge Aamir Khan from his perch as the champion, Bollywood's No. 1. Of course, it can be argued that Salman Khan has gone one better than Aamir by simply putting 2 movies in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, while Aamir Khan has the No. 1 and No. 4 slots. The movie that has saved Aamir blushes and the indignity of being pushed into the sceond-best position is his irreverant PK. This movie managed to keep its collections in double-digit territory for as long as 11 consecutive days and then again soared into the same territory on days 14 and 17! Amazing stuff. When all the dust from tis Bollywood storm had settled down, the collections within India were as high as Rs 340.8 crore. And as far as worldwide collections are conerned, the amount was Rs 625.65 crore! (Bollywood Hungama)

Aamir Khan is now set to hit the 'akhaada' with his wrestling movie Dangal in the near future. He has a fan base that would rival those of Salman Khan And Aamir Khan. The quality of the film is likely to be of excellent quality. There is no way that the production wil be loose from any side. However, with Sultan already having explored the wrestling mania in the Indian public to its maximum level, can Aamir do the same with similar content? Perhaps not. (Bollywood Hunagama)
