Swaraj Sushma must go; PM Narendra Modi protecting Lalit Modi, says Rahul Gandhi</br> Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi controversy as he rejected her "humanitarian" ground argument and mounted a fresh attack on the NDA Government. Rahul Gandhi targeted the Prime Minister over the controversy, saying "one Modi is standing by another Modi.” He added, “PM Modi had promised to bring back black money to the country and deposit Rs 15 lakh in everyone’s account. Now they are supporting black money masters on humanitarian ground." Asked whether Sushma Swaraj should resign, he said, "Absolutely. PM Modi should sack her." He accused the Prime Minister of protecting the tainted cricket administrator and said "(Narendra) Modi is standing by (Lalit) Modi." I am a true Muslim, Prophet a 'great yogi': Sakshi Maharaj </br> New Delhi, Jun 15 (PTI) Sparking a fresh controversy, saffron-clad BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj today claimed himself to be a true Muslim and dubbed Prophet Mohammed as a "great yogi" and the biggest practitioner of yoga. "The biggest name in Islam is that of Mohammed and I consider Mohammed saab as a great yogi. A Muslim is one who has 'iman' and that is why called a Mussalman. I am a true Muslim," said the leader, who has made several controversial remarks about minorities in the past. He further said people should stop communalising the sun. "If sun does not rise, the whole world will become blind. Those who communalise sun should not take its light," he said. Ahead of the government's big plans for Yoga Day on June 21, Maharaj said those politicising surya namaskar should know that there are 42 prostrations (sujood) in namaz, which is performed five times a day. Delhi University admissions closed on Monday, over 4 lakh register </br> The registrations for Delhi University's undergraduate courses will close at midnight on Monday, with the varsity already having received a record of over four lakh applications for 54,000 seats. "The number of students who have registered online till 5 PM today is 3,37,652," DU's Media Coordinator and Joint Dean of Students' Welfare, Malay Neerav said. "Among the online applications received, 1,40,396 are from the general category, 55,216 from OBC, 23,915 from SC, 4,855 from ST and 674 from PWD," he added. While the sale of offline forms at eight registration centres ended at 4 PM today, the online registrations will close at midnight. "A total of 72,596 forms were sold this year," he added. The First cut-off will be announced on June 25, which will be followed by 6-7 similar lists. (15/06/2015)

Bureaucrat accuses Arvind Kejriwal's secretary of corruption </br> A senior bureaucrat has filed a complaint with the Delhi government's Anti-corruption Branch (ACB) against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's secretary Rajender Kumar, accusing him of allegedly indulging in corruption. Ashish Joshi, former member-secretary of the Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC), has marked his complaint to Lt Governor-appointed ACB's chief M K Meena and sought to probe the role of Kumar. In his complaint to Meena, Joshi alleged that Kumar, as director of Education (from May, 2002 to February, 2005) and later Secretary (IT), Secretary (Health) and Commissioner (VAT), had allegedly set up various companies to award work orders of departments without tenders. Air India plane's tyre bursts while landing in Srinagar </br> Over 150 people on board an Air India plane had a miraculous escape today when it suffered a tyre burst while landing in Srinagar and it remained stuck on the runway halting all flight operations in which at least 17 flights of various airlines were cancelled. All passengers on the Airbus A320 plane from Delhi with a halt in Jammu were safe as the flight operations at Srinagar airport that were suspended causing hardships to hundreds of people are expected to resume tomorrow morning. The aircraft had 149 passengers and a seven-member crew on board. "Air India fight AI-821 suffered a tyre burst on landing at Srinagar today. The flight had 149 passengers on board. All passengers are safe," Air India said in a statement. The runway suffered some damage after the incident. The runway at Srinagar airport has been cleared for operations, airport sources said in the evening. (15/06/2015)

High drama as AAP leader Somnath Bharti's mother turns up at Lipika's PC </br> Somnath Bharti's estranged wife Lipika today said she was mulling approaching court against the AAP MLA while addressing a press conference, which was interrupted by her mother-in-law who said she was ready to move to an old-age home to keep the couple together. Earlier, Somnath had alleged that Lipika wanted him to leave her mother. Seventy-year-old Manorama Rani Bharti along with her counsel turned up at the venue and said,"I was pained to know that my daughter-in-law is not staying with my son because of me…I am ready to move to an old age home if my daughter-in-law can live happily with my son." Lipika in her complaint to DCW on June 10 had alleged harassment by her mother-in-law too. An emotional Lipika said that she had hoped of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's intervention in the issue as he had done in the case where a woman was attacked by a traffic policeman last month. "Look who is preaching propriety -of all the persons…," Swaraj tweeted. Swaraj has been under attack by political parties and others for helping scam-tainted Modi to obtain British travel documents after the disclosure of emails showing that she had spoken to Indian-origin British MP Keith Vaz and its High Commissioner here James Bevan seeking favours for the former cricket administrator, who had to go to Portugal, purportedly for his wife's cancer treatment in June last year. BJP slams 'two-faced' AAP, mocks 'self character certificate' </br> Attacking Aam Aadmi Party over the fake degree row and domestic violence case against its MLAs, Delhi BJP today said that the "self character certificate" given by the ruling party to its members has "fallen flat". "Today, we see two faces of AAP. One was before the Assembly polls. The second is what we see today… they had issued self character certificates to its members which have now fallen flat," Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told reporters here. Upadhyay was referring to the controversy which has erupted over the alleged fake degrees of former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar and the domestic violence accusations levelled against Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti by his wife.
