Presidential election 2017: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) pick Ram Nath Kovind has been selected as the President elect in the race to Raisina Hill leaving behind UPA's Meira Kumar by a large number of votes. According to numbers, Kovind secured a total of 7 lakh 2 thousand and 44 votes. A total of 771 members of Parliament and 4,109 legislators were eligible to cast votes. Kovind is now set to become the 14th President of India after today counting, once incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee leaves the office on July 25, 2017. Here is a list of all the Raisina Hill occupants till date along with their achievements and their tenure.

Rajendra Prasad (1950 – 1962)- Born on December 3, 1884, Rajendra Prasad was the first President of the independent India. His term in the office was the longest as he stayed around for 12 years. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1962 – 1967)- Born on September 5, 1888, many people rremember him as his birthday is now celebrated as the teacher's day in India. He was one of the most learned scholars and statesmen of the nation. He was one of the first to receive the Bharat Ratna in 1954. Dr. Zakir Hussain (1967 – 1969)- Born on February 8, 1897, Dr. Hussain was the country's first Muslim president, who occupied the office for the shortest period due to his untimely death in 1969. Varahagiri Venkata Giri (1969-1974)- Born on August 10, 1894, VV Giri was elected as the 4th President of India two month after Dr. Hussain's death. He headed a team to stablish The Indian Society of Labour Economics (ISLE) and received the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, in 1975, for his contribution in the area of public affairs. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed (1974 – 1977)- Born on May 13, 1905, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the second muslim President of India and also the second to die in office after Dr. Zakir Hussain. Shankar Dayal Sharma (1992 – 1997)- Born on August 19, 1918, before being selected as the President of India, had served as the 8th Vice president of India and was also the CM of Bhopal. Pranab Mukherjee (2012 – 2017)- Born on December 11, 1935, is the outgoing Indian President whose term is set to end on July 25, 2017. Before entering into politics, Mukherjee worked as a lecturer and journalist. Mukherjee is the only President who served all the major portfolios as the Centre – Foreign, Defence, Commerce and Finance – at different times in his political career. In 1984, Mukherjee was voted as the Best Finance Minister in the World by the Euromoney magazine and is the only Finance Minister to serve the post both, in the Pre-Liberisation and Post-Liberisation eras.
