<br>UP asks Nestle to withdraw a batch of Maggi noodles:</br>
Nestle India has been asked to withdraw a batch of popular snack Maggi noodles from the market after it was found to contain high level of lead, Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration officials said. While a company spokesperson did not reply to repeated calls and emails queries sent for comments in this regard, UP FDA officials said the order pertained to a 2014 batch of Maggi noodles. UP FDA has ordered recall of a batch
of about 2 lakh Maggi packs. Confirming the order asking Nestle to recall a batch of Maggi noodles, Additional Commissioner Ram Arya Maurya said, "Whatever action we had to take we have taken. I don't wish to say anything more." Tests of the said batch had also reportedly found high levels of added monosodium glutamate (MSG), a taste enhancer, in the noodles. Caught in the crossfire between Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, a number of officials said they were upset with the AAP government as there were attempts to "publicly humiliate" senior bureaucrats. Over 100 serving and retired IAS officials of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-UTs) cadre held a nearly two-hour-long meeting in which they expressed "anguish" over the way senior officials are being treated. "We view with great anguish the way IAS officers have been treated, publicly humiliated and subjected to character assassination. We condemn it," a resolution passed at the meeting said. Acting Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, Rajendra Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and senior bureaucrats from LG's office were present in the meeting. In an attempt to defend the PM Narendar Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) NDA government of being branded as "Suit-boot Ki Sarkaar", Union Minister for Rural Development Chaudhary Birender Singh said if a tea-vendor can live "suited-booted" than we can say we are prosperous. "Jab Chai bechane wala suited-booted reh sakta hai, toh hum toh prosperous hai," Singh. "We are also from farmer's family but live a prosperous life," he said. He then asked farmers to guess the price of his shoes. When they failed to reply, he said the pair was purchased for Rs 48,000 from Jaipur. Indicating his wrist watch, he said it costs several lakhs of rupees. "Farmers should adopt lifestyle like us," he said. Meanwhile, khap representatives of Bangar area in Jind expressed their displeasure over Singh's remark saying when farmers were unable to feed themselves two square meal a day then such statement from the Union Minister shows that he was not concerned about the farmers' problem. <br>'BA Pass actress Shikha Joshi's death: police record cosmetic surgeon's statement:</br>
The Mumbai police today recorded the statement of Dr Vijay Sharma, the cosmetic surgeon allegedly named in the dying statement of model and actress of 'BA Pass' movie, Shikha Joshi who committed suicide last week. Versova police here recorded Verma's statement for nearly three hours, a police officer said. Joshi had earlier alleged that Sharma molested her when she visited his clinic in suburban Khar. Senior inspector of Versova police station Ravindra Pawar refused to reveal what Sharma told the police. However, another officer said on the condition of anonymity said that police were probing all the angles, including the possibility of foul play. Shikha Joshi (40), who had appeared in the 2013 film 'BA Pass', allegedly committed suicide by slitting her throat at a MHADA colony flat in suburban Versova on Saturday evening. (20/05/2015)
<br>Alleged rape case in Dharamshala drives social media storm:</br>
Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed and an FIR registered today in connection with alleged rape case in a Degree College in Dharamsala by the Himachal Pradesh police, which also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for providing information about the crime. The move comes after people vented their anger on the social media and also students protested against the crime. The police today registered an FIR under Sections 354 and 509 of IPC while the Director General of Police announced an award of Rs 25,000 for providing information about the alleged crime, a senior official said. Few days ago, tension prevailed over the mysterious 'gang rape' incident, which allegedly took place within the campus of Degree College in Dharamshala. The incident, however, hasn't been confirmed and the victim, too, hasn't been traced so far.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia (Left) today refuted media reports that a significant number of bureaucrats has applied for leave in wake of the ongoing stand-off between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung over the appointment of top officials. At today's meeting with bureaucrats also, Sisodia told them that news reports in media about leave application by bureaucrats will only create differences between the government and them. "TV channels are running a story that 45 officers have gone on leave in protest… Delhi government has not received any leave application of any officer," Sisodia said in a series of tweets. At a nearly three-hour-long meeting chaired by Sisodia, a number of bureaucrats talked about the difficulties being faced by them due to the ongoing confrontation between the AAP government and Jung. <br>Salman Khan wants to go to Dubai, seeks HC's permission:</br>
Bollywood actor Salman Khan, out on bail after being convicted in 2002 hit-and-run accident case, today moved the Bombay High Court seeking permission to travel to Dubai for a show later this month. On May 6, Salman was convicted by the sessions court here of `culpable homicide not amounting to murder' and sentenced to five years in jail. On May 8, the High Court granted him bail and suspended his sentence pending the hearing and disposal of his appeal against the conviction. The High Court had also said that the actor would need to seek the court's permission every time he wants to leave the country. Salman Khan's application, filed today, says that he wants to travel to Dubai for a show on May 29. (PTI) (20/05/2015)

A court in Ernakulam remanded Maoist couple Roopesh and Shyna, accused of providing shelter to Maoist leader Mallaraja Reddy and his wife Suguna, to judicial custody till June 10. Roopesh and Shyna were remanded by Additional Sessions Judge M Nandakumar and sent to district jail in Kakkanad here, police said adding the proceedings were held in camera. Roopesh, wanted in at least 20 cases in Kerala, along with Shyna, Anup, Veeramani and Kannan were arrested on May 4 at Karumathampatti near Coimbatore by a joint team of Andhra, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police. Sam Pitroda, who is close to the Congress leadership, has challenged in Delhi High Court the summons issued to him in the National Herald case. Justice Sunil Gaur tagged Pitroda'a petition with others, including Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, who have also challenged the trial court's June 26, 2014 order summoning them as accused for allegedly cheating and misappropriating funds of a company that used to publish the now defunct National Herald newspaper. Pitroda was summoned along with Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Young Indian Private Ltd (a firm in which the Gandhis have a stake) director Suman Dubey asking them to appear before it August 7, 2014.They were summoned as accused on a complaint by the Bharatiya Janat Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy alleging cheating in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), the publisher of National Herald newspaper, by the Young Indian Private Ltd (YIL). A British woman, left shaken after a man publicly masturbated while staring at her at a Mumbai bus stop during her trip to India, has been inundated with apologies and support from Indians. Lucy Hemmings, 27, said Indian men and women had sent her countless messages after reading her blog post about the incident to say sorry'. "On behalf of my fellow countrymen I would like to apologise for what happened," one man wrote. "It is truly disheartening to know that you have had such an experience while you were in my country," he added. Another Indian wrote that they felt "ashamed and sorry", while another said: "A bunch of people, out of a billion population, make the whole of India ashamed. "So I just thought to say sorry (on behalf of everyone in India). She was sitting at a bus stop in Mumbai when she noticed a man move closer to her.
