Fan box office collections: This Friday saw Shahrukh Khan and Yash Raj Films coming together once again, and, as is usual, at Rs 19.20 crore in India, the film stormed to the top in opening day collection 2016 list. While earlier this year, we saw some rather content heavy films that featured stellar performances and brilliant stories, none of them stood a chance against megastar Shahrukh Khan and his film's juggernaut-like march to the top of the year's charts. In this box office report, we take a look at the opening day collections of Fan while comparing them to previous releases of 2016. Check it all out: (Bollywood Hungama)
Fan box office collections (15-Apr-2016): Not surprisingly, Fan has managed to emerge as the highest Opening Day grosser of 2016 collecting Rs 19.20 cr. So, what is Shahrukh Khan's Fan all about? What happens when the object of dedication fails to respond to the demands of an obsessed fan? What happens when fanatical devotion of the fan turns into abhorrence and vengeance? And what happens when the fan - who has revered his idol all along - grows to be a stalker, becoming a nightmare for his idol? (Bollywood Hungama)
Fan box office collections managed to easily pass the best previous release of the year, the Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift (22-Jan-2016) opening day collection of Rs 12.35 cr and push it into the 2nd position. Airlift was about the historic and biggest air evacuation in world history. Airlift shed light on the evacuation of Indians stuck in Kuwait after the invasion by Iraq. (Bollywood Hungama)
Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 opening day collection of Rs 8.15 cr (22-Jan-2016) got it pushed to the 3rd spot on the 2016 list. It is a slapstick sex comedy in its 'raw form'. The first film in this franchise hit te screens in 2005 and was a big success and it was followed up by another in 2012 and finally in 2016 - Kyaa Kool Hain Hum, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3. In 2016, the audiences were treated to an 'upgraded' version of the franchise, which was also touted as India's first ever 'Porn-Com'. (Bollywood Hungama)
Rocky Handsome opening day collection was Rs 7.16 cr (25-Mar-2016) and it now slots into the 4th spot in the 2016 list. This John Abraham starrer had the long weekend in place to itself. While there have been many action films that Bollywood has witnessed, this release promised to be a bit different as it also shows a strong bond between Abraham and a small girl. Kidnapping, gruesome violence and a muscle-bound Abraham, all were par for the course. (Bollywood Hungama)
On 5th spot is the Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor starrer Ki & K, which had opening day collection of Rs 7.3 crore (01-Apr-2016). Almost every second Bollywood film claims to be different and zara hat ke in their story and presentation. While there are few films that live up to the promise of being 'different', there are others which land up being damp squibs. Ki & Ka was a film about gender differences and breaking stereotypes. Unlike the quintessential hero that Bollywood has witnessed so far, this film was an attempt to change the perception about many things. (Bollywood Hungama)
