Dispute resolution Bill likely in coming session The government is likely to introduce a Bill for dispute resolution in PPP projects and public utility contracts in the upcoming Parliament session, Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said. The Budget 2016-17 had proposed a Public Utility (Resolution of Disputes) Bill to streamline institutional arrangements for resolution of disputes in infrastructure related construction contracts, PPP and public utility contracts. “We are working on that public utility dispute resolution Bill. Govt to push for passage of bankruptcy Bill: Shaktikanta Das A parliamentary panel is expected to submit its report on the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Code on April 29 and government would push for the passage of the Bill in the second leg of the Budget session, economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das said on Friday. “The Parliamentary Committee is expected to submit its report on April 29 and it would be endeavour of the government to get the (Bankruptcy) Bill passed in the second leg of the Budget session,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here. FIPB clears FDI proposals worth Rs 505 crore An inter-minister panel on Friday cleared 10 foreign direct investment (FDI) proposals worth R505 crore, including that of Singapore-based Helix Investment. Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), chaired by Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, has approved 10 proposals out of 18 on the agenda. Helix Investment Pte proposal worth R475 crore was approved by the Board, a finance ministry official said. Of the 18, two proposals were rejected and 4 including that of Sharekhan was deferred. 4. India gets first train with full surveillance Shan-e-Punjab Express on Friday became India's first train to have CCTV cameras installed in all coaches, as part of Railways' efforts to strengthen security of passengers particularly women travellers. “We have promised it in the budget and today we have fulfilled our promise,” railway minister Suresh Prabhu said after flagging off the CCTV-equipped train from Amritsar through video-conferencing in the national capital. 5. Govt to raise solar power capacity to 48GW by 2019 The government intends to raise solar power generation capacity to 48GW by early 2019, out of 100 GW envisioned from the clean source by 2022 under the National Solar Mission. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in its latest projections, has set a target of having 48GW grid connected cumulative solar power generation capacity by 2018-19, after which the general election are to be held. According to latest targets, the ministry has envisaged adding 12GW capacity from the renewable source in the current fiscal. It plans to add 15GW and 16GW in 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively. TAPI project: Pact for $200 m investment in studies Shareholders of the Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline Company Limited on Friday signed an agreement to invest $200 million in studies and engineering for the $10-billion project to transport natural gas to energy-hungry countries like India. The agreement signing ceremony was witnessed by petroleum ministers and senior government officials of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Asian Development Bank officials in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan, according to a statement by ADB.
