Rahul Gandhi to visit village in AP to mark 10 yrs of MGNREGA: Marking the completion of ten years of UPA's flagship rural job scheme MGNREGA, Rahul Gandhi will visit Bandlapalli village in Andhra Pradesh next week. "Will visit Bandlapalli, Anantpur on 2nd Feb to commemorate 10 yrs of MNREGA. It was from this village that Prime Minister Manmohan Singhji & Congress President Sonia Gandhiji in 2006 had launched the historic MNREGA," Rahul tweeted. Gandhi and Singh had launched the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in February 2006 to provide livelihood security to millions of poor in the villages across the country. Salman Khan promised to look into name issue: Khan Market traders: Bollywood star Salman Khan has agreed to "look seriously" into the demand of the traders of upscale Khan Market here asking him to change the name of his shopping web portal khanmarketonline.com. "We are having positive talks with Salman's staff but we are yet to receive an official response in this regard which is likely to reach us in 2-3 days," said an office bearer of a Khan Market association, seeking anonymity.

4. Lenovo Vibe X3 priced at Rs 19,999 launched in India: Lenovo on Wednesday launched Vibe X3 smartphone at a price of Rs 19,999. The phone will go on sale on Amazon India on Thursday at 2 pm, but there will be no flash sale for this phone. Lenovo Vibe X3 sports a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display, and is powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB storage space – Lenovo Vibe X3 features a 21 megapixel rear camera and an eight megapixel front camera with the ability to record 4K videos. Apple to take a bigger bite from Indian smartphone market: Tech giant Apple is "putting increasingly more energy in India" to cash in on the booming smartphone market in the country, even as global sales of the iconic iPhone grew at its slowest pace. The California-based company, which saw total iPhone sales growing 76 per cent in the country, said it will continue to invest in markets like India in the long-term. "India's growth, as you know, is very good. It's quickly becoming the fastest growing BRIC country. It's the third largest smartphone market in the world, behind China and the US," Apple CEO Tim Cook said on an investor call. The cost of power may go up by about "10 paise per unit", Bharat Aluminium Co Ltd Non-Executive Chairman S K Roongta said that it will impact industry and general consumers. The per unit impact of additional increase would be roughly 12 to 16 paise per unit, he added. Roongta said that proposed hike in coal cess will increase the cost of power which will have to be passed on to consumers to that extent. (Reuters)

BMW launches updated version of '3 Series' sedan in India: German luxury carmaker BMW on Wednesday launched an updated version of its diesel-powered BMW 3 Series sedan in India, priced between Rs 35.9 lakh and Rs 44.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new 3 Series is locally produced at the BMW plant in Chennai and can be ordered at dealerships across India from on Wednesday onwards, BMW India said in a statement. 9. IndiGo adds 8 new daily flights: Budget carrier IndiGo has added eight new flights in its pan-India network, which will take the total number of daily flights operated by the airline to 679. The new services, effective from on Wednesday, include a second non-stop daily flight between Chennai and Kochi, a third direct daily connection to Guwahati from Delhi, a ninth daily non-stop flight between Hyderabad and Delhi as well as the 10th daily non-stop flight between Delhi and Chennai, IndiGo said in a statement. BSES ties up with Paytm for payment of power bills: Power major BSES has entered into a pact with mobile commerce platform 'Paytm' under which consumers stand to earn up to Rs 200 cash back on payment of bills a week before the due date. For all other payments before the due date, the scheme, which will be valid through February and March, has among its provisions a Rs 150 cash-back offer, a BSES spokesperson said. "All customers have to do is pay bills before the due-date through Paytm website or the Paytm App by clicking on the electricity bill payment option using coupon code BSES200 to get Rs 200 cash back or BSES150 to get Rs 150 cash back," the spokesperson said.
