IRCTC ties up with Paytm for e-catering payments: Train passengers will now find it easier to make online payments for the food ordered through e-catering with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) entering into a tie-up with Paytm, a leading payment and e-commerce shopping website. "We have roped in Paytm for providing maximum option to passengers for making online payments. Efforts are also underway to bring in some more reputed caterers in our e-catering portfolio," said IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director AK Manocha.

Mobile app for lodging vehicle theft case launched: Delhi Police on Wednesday launched a mobile version of its online facility for lodging e-FIR in case of theft of vehicles in the national capital. Commissioner of Police B S Bassi launched the mobile app at Delhi Police Headquarters. Delhi NCR takes the lead in online shopping: Delhi NCR has been rated as the most online shopping savvy city in the country, closely followed by Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, according to an analysis by e-commerce giant Flipkart. Southern India has a significant presence with Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai featuring among the top 5 cities that shop the most online along with Delhi NCR and Mumbai, the report said. Indian Railways seek Google suggestions for new IT applications: Railways on Wednesday sought suggestions from Google CEO Sunder Pichai regarding the use of new IT applications for the benefit of its passengers as well as freight users. Pichai, who met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu here, was also told about the various mobile phone-based applications operational in the railways, according to a senior Ministry official who was present in about 40-minute long meeting, along with officials from railways and Google. 5. Toyota Kirloskar to increase prices from January: Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Wednesday announced a 3 per cent increase in prices of all its vehicles from January 1, 2016. The hike is prompted by increasing cost of manufacturing vehicles and a consistent upward trend in foreign exchange rates, the company said in a release. Survey sees 44% Indians raising travel budget in new year: As more and more Indians get bitten by the travel bug, a new study shows that as many as 44 per cent travellers from India would increase their budgets in 2016. "About 33 per cent of global travellers and 44 per cent Indian travellers plan to increase their travel budgets in 2016," according to TripAdvisor's latest TripBarometer study highlighting key travel trends for the next year. The survey also found that about 47 per cent global hoteliers and 39 per cent Indian hoteliers will hike their room rates, with accommodation owners in South America (56 per cent) most likely to do so. World Bank approves $1.5bn to support 'Clean India' campaign: The World Bank on Wednesday said it has approved a USD 1.5 billion loan to India for its ambitious 'Clean India' campaign to support the government's efforts to ensure all citizens in rural areas have access to improved sanitation and end the practice of open defecation by 2019. The loan, disbursed over a five-year period, will be used for the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Support Operation Project. As per World Bank statistics, of the 2.4 billion people who lack access to improved sanitation globally, more than 750 million live in India, with 80 per cent living in rural areas. 9. 100 stations to go live with wi-fi by 2016-end: Sundar Pichai Technology giant Google will bring Internet connectivity to 100 railway stations across the country by next year, its CEO Sundar Pichai on Wednesday said.
