The parents of the December 16 Delhi gangrape and murder victim have demanded that the face of juvenile convict who was the "most brutal" of all the six offenders, should be shown to the world before he is released saying "he is a threat to the society". The father of the girl said, "We have learnt that the juvenile was getting indoctrinated in jihad inside the juvenile home which is a very dangerous thing." Also, he was the most brutal of all the six and he is showing no signs of remorse about what he has done. His release will be a threat to the society. We don't want that what has happened with out daughter is repeated." He added, "if at all he is to be released, his face should be shown to the world."2. Texas toddler dies after siblings put her in oven A toddler left alone with her pre-school siblings in their Texas home suffered fatal burns after they put her in the oven and switched it on, US media reported. J'Zyra Thompson, 19 months, was left unsupervised along with her three-year-old twin siblings in the Houston apartment. A five-year-old was also present. Court records obtained by ABC-13 News in Houston said the twins told child protective services that one of them put their little sister in the oven and the other one made it "hot." Their mother Raqual Thompson, 25, is set to appear in court Monday on four counts of child endangerment, according to the Harris County Sheriff's office. Thompson reportedly told police that she had gone out with her boyfriend to collect a pizza and a prescription at the drug store when her child burned to death on November 16. 5. 176 dead in Tamil Nadu, more rains expected Death toll in rain-related incidents in Tamil Nadu mounted to 176 today, even as the weatherman has forecast more rains in the next 24 to 48 hours. Seven more deaths were reported from across the state since yesterday, while there was a let up in rainfall in most areas of the state since last evening, including Chennai. Five persons died yesterday while two deaths were reported from the state today. The meteorological department said rains or thundershowers would occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep in the next 24-48 hours. HC asks police to allow Tipu Sultan's birth anniversary function The Madras High Court today directed Tamil Nadu police to accord permission with conditions to an outfit to hold a public meeting in January in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations of 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan in Vellore district. Justice M M Sundresh gave the direction to the inspector of Gudiyatham Town Police Station on a petition filed by Ismail, General Secretary of Thamizhaga Makkal Jananayaga Katchi, seeking grant of permission to hold the function. The police had on November 20 informed the court that they had rejected permission to Katchi apprehending law and order problem, which was challenged by the outfit. 8. 2015 set to be hottest year on record: UN The year 2015 is shaping up to be the hottest on record, the UN's weather agency said today, a week ahead of a crucial climate change summit in Paris. "2015 is likely to be the hottest year on record, with ocean surface temperatures at the highest level since measurements began," said Michel Jarraud, head of the World Meteorological Organisation. "This is all bad news for the planet," he added in a statement. The WMO said data from the first 10 months of the year suggested temperatures over land and sea would tick in at their highest level ever measured this year, after already reaching record highs in 2014. The UN agency said the preliminary data showed the global average surface temperature has reached "the symbolic and significant milestone" of 1.0 degree Celsius above mid-19th century levels. Global surface temperatures this year are also about 0.73 degrees Celsius above the 1961-1990 average of 14 degrees Celsius, WMO said. (Image Source: Reuters)

Price rise major factor behind defeat in Bihar polls: BJP MP In an embarrassment to the NDA government at the Centre on the eve of the Winter Session of the Parliament, a BJP MP today said that price rise was a "major" factor behind his party's defeat in the recent Bihar Assembly elections. "Because of inflation, we lost Bihar polls. Price rise became a major poll issue," Harinarain Rajbhar, an MP from Ghosi said. He maintained that in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, people voted for the party and not for Prime Minister Narendra Modi while alleging the PM never took the party MPs into confidence before doing any work.
