"It is a shame that there are certain people who are opposing Yakub Memon's hanging. Those who are opposing are traitors. Irrespective of any party affiliation whoever is opposing it is a traitor and should go to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia," Alam, national secretary of the BJP's Minority Morcha, said. Asked about BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha's signing of the mercy petition for Yakub Memon, Alam said," I don't know what Sinha has said. But I feel that whoever is opposing it is a traitor and is anti-national. Lalu Prasad arrested as RJD bandh cripples life in Bihar </br><br> RJD President Lalu Prasad and several of his supporters were on Monday arrested while trying to enforce the day-long Bihar bandh called by his party which adversely affected normal life across the state. SC rejects plea for transfer of Salman Khan's appeal from Bombay HC</br><br> The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking transfer of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's appeal against his conviction and five-year jail term in the 2002 hit-and-run case, out of the Bombay High Court. "We are sorry," a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justices Arun K Mishra and Amitava Roy said while rejecting the plea. The transfer petition was filed by Sushila Bai H R Patil through lawyer M L Sharma alleging that the state agencies have been "standing behind" the 49-year-old actor. (Reuters)

Prashant Bhushan meets Anna Hazare, told to 'reconcile with old colleagues' </br><br> Swaraj Abhiyan (SA) leader Prashant Bhushan on Monday met social activist Anna Hazare to discuss the contentious Land Acquisition Bill and the One Rank One Pension issue. "It was a courtesy call to thank Anna for the support he has extended to the Jai Kisan Andolan. Prashant Bhushan also invited Anna for the August 19 Jai Kisan Rally," a SA leader said. Hazare has extended support to the Jai Kisan Andolan, which is being undertaken by Swaraj Abhiyan –an organisation founded by expelled AAP leaders Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Tyagi. Yakub Memon death row case: Articles by late RAW officer, ex-Judge of no relevance, says AG</br><br> Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi on Monday said publication of articles written by former intelligence officer or the ex-judges of the Supreme Court on evidence concerning Yakub Abdul Razak Memon, the sole death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, has no relevance in his plea seeking stay of his execution on July 30. "The retired judge comes out with his article a day before the hearing," he said before a bench comprising Justices A R Dave and Kurian Joseph while downplaying the reference made about the article of retired apex court judge Markandey Katju. Neha Dhupia clarifies anti-government tweet </br><br> Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, who came under fire for criticising the government in her tweets, on Monday said she had no intention to "demean or personally attack anyone". Dhupia, 34, had taken to Twitter to express her annoyance about the government's inability to handle traffic situations during monsoons in Mumbai and also criticised its 'Selfie With Daughter' initiative and 'International Yoga Day' celebrations. Dhupia's dig did not go down well with certain sections, who took to twitter to criticise and abuse the actress. The "Mithya" star said she was merely venting out her frustration at the flooding situation in Mumbai. (Reuters)
