In the evening hours of January 20, four gunmen stormed a luxury hotel in Kabul in which they killed at least six people, including a foreigner. Following that, a twelve-hour fight with security forces was carried out setting many parts of the building ablaze. Afghan security forces have confirmed that they have managed to kill all the four attackers during the night-time siege. While talking to the media, interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish said that during the siege, many people were trapped inside the landmark hotel. He said, "The attack is over, five Afghans and one foreigner have been killed." More than 150 people were rescued from the hotel, which included more than 40 foreigners. "The body of the foreigner, a woman, was recovered from the sixth floor as the last attacker was being killed," he added.
