What is NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform)?
The way we do IMPS through net-banking, NUUP, based on the same platform, is a USSD based mobile banking services which have conceptualised and brought banking and telecommunication services altogether. The services can be availed by dialling *99# irrespective of any telecom service provider (Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, etc.) you are using in your phone.
USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a technology built for GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) for exchanging information (text messages) over the signal channels of GSM network. It will accelerate the financial inclusion reach. It does not charge any additional roaming cost. NUUP is a technology that provides you not only banking services but also various other non-financial, value added services too.
Under the umbrella of financial services, NUUP offers you to do fund transfer through three channels, using MMID and mobile number of the beneficiary. Secondly, IFS Code and account number of the beneficiary. Thirdly, by using aadhaar number of the beneficiary.
